Amongst the courses delivered by the University is a new three-year BA (Hons) in Media Production.  The course is designed to offer students more practical experiences whilst learning, ensuring successful students have both the knowledge and skills required to make it in the largest employment sector in the UK, Media.

Colin Park, Technical Advisor at the university sees the new introductions as a big step in the right direction.

“Up until now, students have had to learn largely through theory lectures.  The new Media Production course and SYNERGY equipment will really make a difference helping them to develop an essential range of skills needed to work in radio”

Colin himself has been taking advantage of the Universities new SYNERGY suites.  As a keen presenter, Colin has successfully gained a Sunday morning Breakfast show at Ewewash Sound www.erewashsound.co.uk Colin can be heard online every Sunday between 8:00am and 10:00am and hopes that the pupils will play a part in future shows broadening their experiences too.

There are four courses that include radio production at the University of Derby:  New-Media Production BA (Hons), Media Poduction Bsc (Hons), Broadcast Media (Joint Honours) and Marketing and Broadcast Media (Joint Honours).  The University is confident that the new building and facilities will continue it’s success and push the high standards of media to new levels
